{"id":1459,"date":"2023-12-06T00:08:21","date_gmt":"2023-12-06T00:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hawaiiglobal.org\/?p=1459"},"modified":"2024-01-14T02:22:05","modified_gmt":"2024-01-14T02:22:05","slug":"kunori-gakuen-hs-hawaii-study-tour-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hawaiiglobal.org\/en\/kunori-gakuen-hs-hawaii-study-tour-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Kunori Gakuen HS Hawaii Study Tour 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">11\/16 \u2013 11\/21<\/p>\n<h3>We were pleased to welcome back the students from Kunori Gakuen High School (Yonezawa City, Yamagata).<\/h3>\n<p>The group was consisted of 19 students from two classes this year: Progressive Course and Universal Course.<\/p>\n<p>Their study tour was designed based on the students\u2019 research areas, such as food insecurity, homelessness, food and dietary education, environmental issues\/conservation, over tourism, and other social issues. However, of course, because they are in Hawaii, we made sure that they would learn about the Japanese immigration history, and Hawaiian history and culture.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Roots Program &amp; Hooulu Aina by Kokua Kalihi Valley<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We enjoyed great lunch at Roots Caf\u00e9 which contained fresh produce from Hooulu Aina (an organic farm Kokua Kalihi Valley owns and operates) and other local farmers. Students also got to visit Hooulu Aina and helped gathering corn kernels for the next planting.
