In Appreciation of our International Relationships

05/04/2021

Vice Principal Jacob Kardash of Mililani Middle School in Hawaii was awarded The State Vice Principal of the Year! This is an honorable award where one vice principal is selected to represent each of their states.  Congratulations, Mr.Kardash!

Since 2018, Mililani Middle School has been keeping in touch with  Tezukayama Junior High School of Nara Prefecture, Japan.  Mr. Kardash chaperoned the students from Mililani Middle School on a study trip to Nara, to experience the culture and school life of Japan.

The students of Tezukayama Junior High School also made a trip here to Mililani Middle School, as a part of the Hawaii Science Camp.  Mr. Kardash helped to get the students join in on STEM Night, a very popular learning event where local organizations and the US Army help give hands-on experience of various scientific topics.

Although we’ve met serious setbacks because of COVID-19 on international travel, the students have been keeping in touch through online meetings.   “It is all thanks to the continued exchanges with the schools in Japan, and the support from our partner, Hawaii Global Education Foundation, that I have been honored with this award,” says Mr. Kardash in an interview.

We here at HGEF are determined to continue supporting the children of both Japan and Hawaii alike.  Once again congratulations Mr. Kardash, and thank you for your kind words.  We hope this partnership will be long lasting!
