8/22 – 26/2024
Nine (9) students from Fukuchi Town visited Honolulu as participants of the 2nd Youth Program. Similar to the March visit, students visited the Japanese Culture Center of Hawaii for Japanese immigration history, USS Missouri for peace study, and downtown and the State Capitol for Hawaii’s history. They also met a few Hawaii Fukuoka Kenjin Kai members over dinner for friendship exchange.
They visited Stevenson Middle School this time and spent a whole day at school by joining some regular classes with host students, making ti leaf leis, and enjoying school lunch. This visit is a special one because those eight (8) host students are scheduled to visit Fukuchi Town in October with Principal Luczak and a couple of other teachers from Stevenson. HGEF is proud to assist Fukuchi Town and Stevenson for a true exchange between Japan and Hawaii!
