From June 10th to June 15th, students from University of Hawaii West O’ahu and Waipahu High school participated in the Fukuoka prefecture Kyushu Sangyo University (KSU) Summer Program in the Fukuoka prefecture.
The exchange programs offered by KSU included Japanese language classes, special lectures on The Tale of Genji, traditional Hakata craftworks hands-on experience, tours of Hakata old town, student exchange programs, and a field trip to the Huis Ten Bosch theme park. The broad range of programs allowed the students from Hawaii to enjoy a thorough experience of Japanese university life and local culture. I’d like to express my gratitude to the KSU and the Fukuoka International Exchange Foundation and all their staff, who made this summer program possible. Thank you very much.
In addition, students fully enjoyed shopping in Fukuoka, and savored their famous Ramen and seafood.
Participant questionnaires were very positive as well, and we hope to continue our good relationship with the KSU international exchange center for more fulfilling exchange programs in the years to come.
