Schedule: September 2nd (Mon) ~ September 7th (Mon), 8 days 6 nights.
College Students: 14, Chaperones: 3.
The Kyusyu Sangyo University(KSU) department of Local Co-Creation(kyo-so gakubu) works with the local community to build a sustainable society. In order to cultivate “Glocalist” (Global + Local) students who have well-rounded characters to effectively problem solve and create such a society, the department has administered yearly study tours to Hawaii.
Students attended classes at their partner school University of Hawaii West Oahu(UHWO) for 3 days, learning English for business and enjoying socializing with local students. They also learned about the tourism business of Hawaii, touring resort hotels and the farmers market at Kapiolani Community College, inspecting hotel wedding venues, and even sampling a course lunch.
The school partnership ceremony was held at the UHWO campus during their stay as well, which was a display of their promise to continue international exchanges and further nurture a global perspective in students for years to come. The Vice Principal was also warmly welcomed at the James Campbell High School, who have kept good relations with KSU.
60 students, friends, and family of UHWO gathered at Magic Island for a potluck party on the final day. Attendees socialized while enjoying an assortment of food dishes unique to Hawaii, alongside a beautiful sunset and the Waikiki beach fireworks.
