Takehara City of Hiroshima Prefecture has administered study tours to Hawaii, where students learn foreign languages, improve communication skills, and make connections around the world through cultural exchanges. The goal of the study tour is to educate students and help their hometown Takehara gain a global presence.
We had the opportunity to support the study tour from day one, starting with peace educations at Pearl Harbor, home staying with local families, and meet ups with Honouliuli Middle School, who have tied sister-school relations with Middle Schools in Takehara city.
As residents of Hawaii, watching these students learn about the war and the importance of peace, while building healthy relationships amongst each other, reminded us of the significance of staying educated about the world and striving for lasting peace.
Takehara city prepares online discussions before and after the overseas study tours, actively creating an educational environment for students so they become more successful at the global level. HGEF wholeheartedly supports Takehara city and their noble endeavors!
