Principal Luczak, teachers Alisha-sensei and Saki-sensei of Stevenson Middle School took a trip to Fukuchi Town, Fukuoka, to visit three (3) junior high schools (JHS) from the town: Akaike JHS, Hojyo JHS, and Kaneda Gimu School.
Stevenson has known those schools since 2022 via online exchange program. Principal Luczak is planning to send a small group of students to Fukuoka this fall and wanted to meet the school officials for the planning purposes. Stevenson teachers took a tour of each school, met with Principal and other school staff, observed classes, and even tried the famous Japanese school lunch!
The staff from Fukuchi Town took them to try the pottery making at one of the Agano Ware (“Aganoyaki”) masters’ gallery in town. Mr. Wataru at “Watarigama” kiln kindly showed us how his 400 years-old kiln works and taught us how to use the pottery on the wheel.
